i have a 94 f350 that has a efi460 that i want to build up. i was wondering if there was a way to change it to a mass air system so i can make it work with an aftermarket cam. i want to keep my efi. also i was wondering about building a 514 stroker for this truck. does anyone know if i can use an older block and heads and still use my efi intake? or what about using my intake with a 514 crate engine from ford? i dont care about the emissions because this is mainly an offroad truck.

I think the Cali trucks had Mass air because of emissions, don't quote me on that. Also, i believe there is a difference between the EFI heads compared to the older heads that most performance parts are made for.
That said, my dad had his EFI 460 rebuilt, with a bit of a cam (RV style). Definitely sounds healthier, the computer has some issues with the cam at first, but its fine now (symptom was surging idle).
As for the stroker, I'm sure there are people who could make it work with the EFI setup. Probably want to post on a Ford site to get some better answers.

ive also been tossin around the idea of swapin my sd to a maf system and snagin all the shit from a turdstang. anybody ever do this to a 460. i searched and all i can find is the swap on a f-series 302 and 351. i dont think the 460 would be any different.

I have been checking the MA swap out a little bit for my 460 in a 96. According to what I`ve been told Cali. trucks r the only place to find it,but u can supposedly "snag shit from a turdstang" but u have to reflash the 5.0 ecm to 460 injector and ignition firing order. but don`t take what i`m saying to the bank

from the stuff that i found for the small block said that you just swap the injectors around to match the fireing order, wouldnt that work for the big block to?
does anybody have a good site that explains wich eec's use whatever sensors, because as of now my truck does'nt have a vss and there's no wiring for it ether. from everthing that i have read is that the one in the rear is for rabs only, and the vss goes in the trans on a 2wd or the tcase on a 4wd!!

go to projectbronco.com . In the 460 forum they have a thread about 460 MAF going on. These guys know what parts and what ecms work. Hope that helps you

95 - 97 efi 460 had MAF - small block comp can be reflashed to work with more cubes - the efi heads are diffrent than the carb versions -

if the truck you are trying to convert is the one in your sig with the 460 and c6 trans than you can use a a9l computer from a mass air mustang and a harness from fordfuelinjection.com rmj industries i believe. the heads from the injected motor must be used with the injection intake.

thanks for the info. i checked out the project broncos site and there is a lot of good info on there. i just want to build a reliable bigblock with efi and be around 500hp/500tq. does anyone know what the stock ratings are on a 94 efi460?

ok so i know my intake wont work with anything but the efi heads. what about the efi heads, will they bolt on say a 70s shortblock? i was thinking about getting them redone and using them. from the info on projectbronco.com it looks like they would do pretty good with some reworking.

EFI heads will work with any 429-460 block. The 93 and newer are the better ones (larger valves and ports). The exhost and intake ports were raised about 5/8in. so the carbed intakes and exhoust parts wont work with them.
They were offered in 96-97 OBD2 cali. and Mass. only. Everything is the same as the standard EFI 460s except the ECM and air intake and engine harness. From the throttle body in all 93 and newer 460s were the same.

thanks for the info! i found out the heads on my 94 can be made to work really well with some porting and valve changes. does anyone know what these engines were rated stock on hp and tq? i know they were really choked down with all the smog crap.

I have a set of F3TE heads ported and polished waiting to go on something, just haven't gotten around to it. One bit of advice, have them machined for screw in stud rockers, it will make your life much easier, and roller rockers are cheaper that way.
