ive never compared the 2. but they should bolt in the same. i dont know how different the wiring might be though if its different at all.

you do know thats almost a step backwards.

OHV's are known for durability and low end torque for their size, SOHC's are known for breaking.

Dude go back to the explorerforums.

the 4.0L SOHC is by far a better engine. More HP and more torque. And you don't have to change the pushrods every 10K.

The wireing is quite different. Grab as much of it from the donar as you can.

I've heard of a few top-end lube issues with them, but that seems a little crazy...

I got 99K on mine, my buddy's got 160K. Neither have ever been torn down for anything, and they run nice & quiet.

Also, The OHV's torque curve is much flatter than the SOHC's. This does help with crawlability even though it may not be as powerful overall. I would not call the SOHC unreliable at all though either.

The early ones had timing chain issues, not nearly as reliable as the ohv (who replaces pushrods?) but I say that the swap isnt worth it. You have to redo everything that you would have to do to swap in a 302 but your still stuck with a shit tranny. Skip the sohc and go to a 302 or 351w.
