What is better to use in a Hummer rim? Magnesium or the rubber insert? Reasoning? Application is for a 42" Swamper, not really rockcrawling, just mud and snow.
Does anyone know the weight difference between the two? Should I get the 8 bolt or 12 bolt Hummer rim. I do envision some highway driving - maybe 100 miles the odd time.
Thanks

With 42's, you wouldn't come close to impacting the mag runflat, running 8psi you'd have alot of room between the tire and runflat, pressures less then that and the tire rolls over on it's side anyway..

From personal experience: The radial/rubber runflat can be a major PITA to install. With practice and the proper tools it goes faster, but it's still a pain. The bias/magnesium runflat is much more mechanic friendly, although more prone to imbalance.
Ask me how I know.... Twelve M998s, forty-eight brand new radials, finally :usa:

So does the Magnesium beadlock/runflat only work with/come with the 8 bolt hummer rims?

Thanks Daniel. What whould you say about the stregnth of the 8 bolt wheel vs. the 12 bolt wheel? I see all these beadlocks with 16, 18, 24, 32, and now even 40 bolts. Then there's the Hummer rims. 8 and 12? If it works for the Military, then it must be O.K., right?
the bias ply -mag rim is the best but the only draw back is the backspacing....but if you run full width depending on the rig the rim may bring the wheel back to normal length or just a bit wider then stock...
there is alot of guys selling them just becareful they arent really all that expensive...they are a real hot comodity right now...:D
