hey guys, I recently bought a used Kennedy machinists box and it had a few nice antique measuring tools. among them, a Mitutoyo dial indicator with magnetic base. however, the dial indicator seems to be broken. it was used in a carpentry shop before i got it, so I was guessing sawdust contamination.
i gently sprayed it out with one of those aerosol dusters (didn't know if compressed air would hurt it), and now it will occasionally seem to start registering correctly, but then it wont work again.
if you push the end of the probe, the dial wont move until its at the end of its stroke, and then it will just measure a few thou (should measure more). i tried spraying it out again with the duster, and no luck.
anything else i can try before i consider this a total loss? i got the box for so cheap i figure this was a free add-on.
thanks.
