Before ya even start, I know the difference in spindle speeds between say a Dewalt multi cutter, and a standard chop saw preclude running the multi cutter blade on a regular saw.

Just found this on another board tho.

http://www.bulletindustries.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/99_144/products_id/449

Carbide tipped metal cutting blade rated for 4400 rpm so it can be used in a standard chop saw. Cheap too.

Any one used one? Any experience with the company?

Thinking about getting one to try since its so cheap, whats the worst that can happen?

Your thoughts?

I wonder if there is any sort of limit on the wall thickness of metal it could do or not for solid stock. Just the thought of it spinning at 3,800rpm and taking more time to go through thicker material= a lot of heat. So who is going to buy one and find out how well it works?

i am going to buy one for sure. It is 1/10 the cost of a new saw to use the slow blades, and I already have a big ass craftsman chop saw, so i figure I cant loose.

If it sucks, I will get a real dry cutter.... or even a wet cutter...

at work I've used carbide tipped circular saw blades designed for cutting steel (just used it the other day to cut through some 3/4" threaded rod) and that spins at 5800rpm

I too have looked at these and wondered how well they work. It seems like they wouldn't make as big of a mess as the abrasive wheels would. Let us know how it works.

can't speak for the conversion blades, but i have a 7" circsaw designed for metal blades and the low mess/ease of use if fantastic. since the blades never shrink you don't really need the 14" diameter blade.

i can cut about 2.25" thick max

If they are like the ones from HF, they arn't worth $2.

I just started using the sandpaper looking disc with a rubber backing pad. For the money, that are the poo.

I've been using the ones from Home Depot - the 4.5" ones run about $5 and rock. I built my entire rear bumper with one disc.

I agree the HF ones are shit. I wouldn't even buy them after seeing them on the shelf.

The ones from this place actually look decent.

HF has a few metal cutting carbide/titanium blades now as well. Here is a 12" one rated for 5500RPMs: clicky (http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=92802)

And here is a 14" one rated for 1700RPM like a normal dry saw: clicky (http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=92826)

I haven't tried either one, because I don't want to die from carbide shrapnel, but they are reasonably priced. I wonder if the name brad, "lifetime carbide" on them means that HF warranties them for life???

As for abrasives, the ones in the bullet link don't look quite as cheap as the HF ones, but the only way to tell would be to try some. I currently only buy the "radnor" brand flap wheels from my local airgas, they are re-badged nortons. The quality is unsurpassed by any other disc I have tried. I get the standard life zirconia 4.5" ones for about $2.30 a piece, but I mostly use thier extended life zirconia discs which have about 3x the material and life of an ordinary disc, and I buy them by the box of 10 for $55. Most of the china flap discs I have tried don't cut worth a shit, and they wear out about 10x faster than even the standard life radnor ones...

Did you get the blades yet? Or did you die from the shrapnel?
