I'm a cheapskate otherwise I'd just buy the SYE and be done with it. But I was looking at a NP208 Tcase, noticed it has fixed yokes front and rear, looks like it would bolt right up to my AW4 trans too. Would it? I have a 89 XJ with 4.0 and AW4. I have a CV driveshaft already, am willing to make the linkages work just want to know about the strength and if it would bolt up.

I dont think it would be cheaper.....and the 208 is ont a upgrade forthe XJ.....the RE cut and tap unit works great and is very cheap....I know guys running 35's and larger on this unit.....

A great replacement for a 231 is a flipped D300. I've seen one XJ with it and a few SWB Jeeps. You don't lose much low range and add a lot of strength.

Well the driveshaft I have now doesn't have the flanged end, I know I could adapt it to work but it's got the yoke/bolt style right now. So I don't know about making it work with the hack and tap. I can get a 208 in good working order locally for about $125, figure sell mine and I'm looking at a really cheap solution.

Definitely open to other options though, appreciate the ideas because around here no one seems to even have the foggiest idea what a SYE even is.

Well you still gonna have to spend for a new DS even with the 208....and lowrange wont be as good.....the RE cut and tap is about the same price as your TC 208....HMMMMM and everything still is factory, shifters, sinkage, etc....those mods for the 208 wont be cheap
