looking for cheap windshield sources. I was also thinking of the speed glass stuff. Anybody used this? The raw sheets dont have a bad price but im not sure how to cut. Im working on a 66 fj40 if that makes a difference.

thanks

Hell yeah!! INDESTRUCTABLE!!!! Ask me how I know??

Cause in the process of lining up my windshield last night (By myself) I dropped the windshield and frame on the ground. BANG BOOM CRASH!!!!! All that happened was tiny scratch, when any glass windshielf would have broken into a billion pieces!! :D:D:D

(thanks again Jason and Rugburn!!)

Rugburn is the man.

I had a sheet he had cut for me to use in place of my windshield at Moab...just never got around to pulling it before I crashed.

I was VERY glad I had the peice ready when I got back to camp!

He also made a peice for me that goes behind the driver as a "Duster" when cold weather hits.

Great product and AWESOME pricing.

does the windshield from rugburn scratch easily. Lots and lots of driving in tight trails covered by trees here and the windshield will have lots of branches and what not drug across it

Give him a ring,
He might be doing the scratch resistant coatings by now.

The only way to find out is to ask!

Mine is holding up very well though..

(not too many trees to hit around here though...)

Did you ever think of running a cable from the top of your windshield to your fender? It would keep the branches out of the windshiled. supposedly it is a very common practice in areas where the trails are very overgrown..

I had a piece of glass cut by safelight in Seattle. I brought in the old one, picked up a cut one later that day. It is just cut safety glass. Cost me about $60 I think. Then installed myself. You might get a new grommet if yours is the origonal. It gets too rigid when it is old (I should be so lucky!)

Arne,

In terms of time, shipping costs and discounts if yoou area TLCA member, go to a Toyota dealer and buy it there.

I bought Genuine Toyota windshields to ensure tight tolerances for my polycarbonate windshields.

Clear, smoke grey and bronze.
Regular polycarbonate and Hardcoated, antifog treated polycarbonate too.

These are the same materials and surface treatments used on all the Winston Cup stockcars, CART, IRL, IMSA.... racing sanctions.

Give me a call Monday and I'll hook you up!
