: F250 HP44 on a SUA YJ?

I'm about to pull the trigger on a HP44/60 set of axles. My understanding is that the HP44 from the 250 comes with SOA spring perches roughly a half inch off of the stock YJ spacing, with the driver's side being cast into the punkin. I am still running SUA and am trying to find out if I will be able to mount spring perches under the axle or if the diff housing will be in the way. I'd assume the top of the housing will be the widest, so I'm hoping I'll have clearance on the bottom of the tube for a perch.

Any help is appreciated. If anyone has this setup, further guidance/recommendations is always welcomed.

TIA

I've got an HP44 out of a F250 under my YJ. mine is SOA though. you are right about the perches being off a bit. I redid mine.

don't know how easy it'll be to mount it up SUA. you'll have to weld a perch to the housing, and you'll probably have to grind the housing down some first.

here's a pic of mine in that area for reference.

Any chance you have pics of the perch/axle on the driver's side? Any major issues with mounting the perch near/on the diff housing? Due to financial and time contstraints, I'd like to keep it SUA. At least for the time being.

Also, were you able to use the existing shock mounts?

Thanks again...

I cut the C off the end of the spring perch that was going next to the axle housing and then ground down the housing for the perch to fit on. I welded it to the axle tube and then heated the axle housing with a torch and welded the perch to the housing using a nickle rod. This is all on a HP 44 out of a F150 though, not the 250 and its SOA but you should be able to do the same thing for SUA that I did for SOA.

Aren't a lot of the leaf spring guys running these particular axles just filling the center pin hole with weld and the redrilling?

I am curious about this as well. I have a d44 set up soa that I'm thinking of going sua and need to relocate the perches.

Generally. My understanding is that it's a bolt-in, since the perches are only .5" off IIRC. The issue I have is that I'd like to retain my SUA setup for a bit longer, however the stock perches are SOA. Being as the driver's side perch is basically cast into the diff housing, I'm trying to measure the PITA factor for moving the perch to the bottom of the housing.
