I'm sure most of you have seen this ad - the green '95 D-90 wagon driving on a dirt track with a rhino right on its heels. Its up in every Rover dealership I've ever been to, and by working at the successor ad agency, I've had the ability to get a pretty sweet copy for myself.
The rhino always looked fake to me. People told me it was real, but I never believed them. There is NO WAY that the client would today allow us to take such risks for an ad. Guess things were different back in '95.
I am sitting here looking at a picture of the rhino catching the Defender. Catching it hard.
It is pretty ironic that the ad discusses the "powerful" 3.9L V-8, and then to see the picture of the rhino tearing into the Defender!
