: Tbi Harness, Howell Or Painless??
SVARAS 05-17-2002, 11:03 AM Wich one is better. Does the Howell harness worth 60-70 bucks more???
Budjet is my concern, but if there's a huge difference I will go for the Howell one.
LOPPY 05-17-2002, 11:18 AM Have'nt dealt with Painless, but I hear they're a pain in the ass. Product is good.
I went with the Howell. Working fine. Easy to work with and they had everything I needed on time.
Howell labels all the wires. Used both and you get what you pay for.
:blender:
neither get a centech harness if its for a motor swap
66CJdean 05-17-2002, 11:48 AM The three people that used a Painless said it was a pain in the ass. The one guy I know that used a Howell had no problems and I have a Howell harnes that looks sweet but just havent done the motor swap yet.
Ultim8kaos 05-17-2002, 01:16 PM I bought the Howell TBI setup for my rig and their harness was top shelf. All connectors labeled and all connectors are GM weatherproof. Doesn't get any better than that!
wngrog 05-17-2002, 01:20 PM Howell or Centech
Lil'John 05-17-2002, 03:11 PM Avoid Painless. I've had two of their products(in cab harness and TBI harness)
TBI harness is no longer my problem :p I swapped in a stock harness and like the fit MUCH better.
AtomicBeesting 05-17-2002, 03:43 PM I've used Howell, Painless and Centech.
Go with Howell for your EFI needs. Centech before Painless.
patooyee 05-17-2002, 11:05 PM If you're going for budget, go www.chevythunder.com. That's where I got mine from. Less than half the price of the others ($155 shipped), the owner cares about his product, all wires, labeled, everything. I can't believe that I am the first one who bought from him!

BornInAJeep 05-18-2002, 06:13 AM wiring is not one of my strong points, in fact i really hate it. How simple does one of these harnesses make a TBI install?
SVARAS 05-18-2002, 06:16 AM Thanks for the imputs guys !!
Think I'll go for Howell
(It's for my 350 TBI swap)
Keith 05-18-2002, 10:37 AM Howell for sure.....:D
Dead Sled 05-18-2002, 01:07 PM Where does one get Howell products?
I plan on building a 500" Mopar this summer for my little car and I want FI, but since its not a BB Chevy its hard to find parts like that.
chris demartini 05-18-2002, 03:45 PM If budget is a concern, use a factory harness. If you have good wiring diagrams, you don't need labeled connectors since the wires are color coded. Most of the wiring in an engine harness goes between the ECM and sensors/outputs, so most of it stays intact. You just need a few keyed and constant 12v sources, and a few grounds, so there isn't much splicing that everyone is so afraid of. Painless makes an auxilliary fuse block with keyed and constant 12v sources, that will make it easier to hook up if wiring isn't your thing. Find a good harness, quality wiring diagrams and do it yourself.

No . . . you're a newbie because you have less than 100 posts. :flipoff2:
If you don't search, you'll still get flamed even if you're not a newbie.
