I don't but it's got a part # right smack in the middle of it.
all I can say is that it is from a truck (the AA code)

Looks like an SR-4 out of a 80ish cj that had a 4 banger.

Looks like a TOD, the top shifter mount version of the SROD. Icouldn't say for sure without seeing a side view, but the shifter mounting area looks exactly the same. If it is a TOD then I don"t know what the ratios are, but they are nothing to get excited about.

"D9ZR" tells us that......
D = 70's
9 = 9
Z = Mustang
R = ????
I'ld say its outof a '79 mustang. Check out what kinda top loader trany's were available in that year and you've probably got it nailed. :smokin:

I don't think it would be out of a mustang since it's a 4wd tranny.

What sez its a 4x4? truck tranny's usualy have the shifter in the middle, cars are usualy in the back of tranny because motor is further forward. I figure the Tail housing is missing, but pis is too dark for me to see tailshaft.

The "AA" signifies 27 changes/modifications to the tranny since it came out. (starting with A)
Just my interp. of ford.
I'ld put my money on late 70's early 80's ford mustang 4-speed.

based on this: http://www.aloha.net/~djhamma/partnumb.htm is a tranny out of a 90's mustang.

making it either 1)3.35 2)1.93 3)1.29 4)1.00 5)0.78 or 1)3.35 2)1.99 3)1.33 4)1.00 5)0.68

Well, I'm not much help, but I can sure as hell tell you it's not out of a 90's mustang :) I've never looked too hard at the 'truck' versions of the T5's.. but if it happens to be one of those, I wouldn't get too excited. I've broken a whole pile of those things in my 88 Mustang.. and the car versions get 2.95:1 first gears or sometimes you find a 'world class' version with a 3.27:1 first. Regardless, they are too weak for drag racing.. so I'd be worried wheeling it unless I had a light foot (I dont).

Matter of fact, now that I look at that picture some more, it's not a T5 at all, unless the 'truck' version used entirely different castings and just 'shared' the same name. The T5 has a very rectangular base for the shifter to bolt down onto.

If it is out of CJ5 it would have to be early 80's. Did it have a 4 banger in it? I have never studied the T-4 and 5s form a cj. But I have replaced a few SR-4s, and the FORD and Borger Warner on it with the 3 holes that hold the plate and shifter, brought sr-4 to the front of mind right away. But back to the real question, weither it is a t4, t5, or sr4. They all basicly such if you are going to beat on them. t4 and t5 are fine in a DD or light duty wheeler. The sr4 was behind a 4 banger for a reason. If you have the bell for it, do not be temped to bolt a 350 to it, the 4 banger has the same bell as the rest of chevy.

No not a guru, just a guy that fawks around. It's more from the CJ side of brain.

They are an easy sell to the guys that think they beat on them, since they always break. I get $100-150 for them. Alot of people will just keep replacing them. I just ended up with the ones I had because they had a 300 on the back of them.
