I am having a hell of a time finding a tie rod that will fit in my damn pit man arm. So I am looking at Heim joints instead.

1. Does anyone make metric hiem joints??

2. Anybody know the thread size of the tie rods on a 69 cruiser?

3. Anybody know what damn tie rod end will fit in a pitman arm off of a 74 impala?? I have tried the 3 listed as parts on the car at napa but no dice!! :( DAMN!!

thanks everyone!!

Finally step. WHOO HOOO!!!!!

You can have the pitman arm filled and re-reamed to whatever size you want at just about any machine shop!

good luck.

I'm sure someone in Japan does but why would you want one???

Drill it out to 5/8's and get some quality heim joints!!!

It will be easier to adapt when you goto the front 60 anyway :D

Hell, I will send you a flat steering arm that is already reamed for 5/8's heim...

BTW, the Tie rod should still be metric on both sides, it goes from tire to tire. The draglink goes from the passengers side of your cruiser to the PS box. I see no reason why it could not be heim on one side and TRE on the other...

Just my opinion, but I would not use a Heim joint on anything but a dedicated trail rig. A TRE is stronger and safer.

I don't think you will find a normal TRE that will fit the Pitman arm you describe -- at least I never have. I would fill the hole and machine a new taper for the desired TRE. I have done that for a few friends and it works well.
