Folks, what's a fair price for a Ranger Overdrive mated to a 1978 H42 4-speed mated to a 3-speed transfer-case, all with under 20K miles on the clock? How about a quick sale price?

I think a fair price would be $1000 for a fast move....

Ohhh, nice save...hell I thought those Rangers fetched $500-$700 used!

Nice price......

A low milage H42 and Tcase are worth $500 for the piece of mind IMHO that you are getting a good one.

I'd take $850 for my Ranger Underdrive if someone would offer it. The Rangers don't seem to hold their value very well. I think it is because there have become more options with greater increase in usefulness of different gear combinations. $600-$850 is what I typically see them sell for around here. I just rebuilt mine, it only had about 25k on it and I had some seals fail and a bearing grenade. They are very leaky units. Tough to keep sealed up tight. Bearings for it run just under $300. Some of the bearings are not available through any bearing houses as they are special bearings made for AA. That was a pain.

Thanks, folks, I'll pass the info on to Alex. Nolen, this is for Alex Ulivi, another transplanted Venezuelan who lives in OK and whose FJ40 project has ballooned from a clutch replacement to a full project (SOA with 60 series axles, 4.88's, dual ARB's, crate GM 350, Ranger Underdrive to SM465 to a split case, etc...)...he should have known better than asking me for advice!! :)

FWIW my Dad sold a Ranger Overdrive box on eBay last year for $800, and there were lots of bidders.
