Hey guys. My Explorer was acting up on idle by stalling out. It has a 4.0 liter and is 4 wheel drive.
I figured out it was the idle air controller. I pulled it off and it was full of carbon. So I cleaned it out with some ether and lubed it up with some silicone lubricant. For the most part it works ok. Every once in a while I have to keep on the accelerator just to keep it from stalling.
Can I just keep cleaning it when it gives me a problem or is it going to end up failing completely. If I can avoid the expense of buying a new IAC it would help a lot. I am still in college. So I try to make things stretch as far as possible without leaving stranded in BFE.
Not as important is the cd player. It is the stock head unit. It simply doesn't display any information on it, but it will play cds and the radio just fine. Some site was saying that they had the information on how to fix it, but you had to sign up for it and pay a fee.
Thanks for the help, in advance.
