I traded two XJ's for a 1995 4X4 S-10 extended cab. Been rolled about six times (driver lost count, then threw up :barf: ), landed back on wheels. It was still running, so the guy drove it home. Runs good, drives, doors even open and shut! But, I dont want a chevy truck project.
I am going to put the 4.3L vortec into my YJ. It is still my daily driver. Yeah.. ha ha.. funny eh?
Has anyone here put a 4.3L Vortec in a YJ, or know anyone who has? Is there any gotchas, or things you wish you had done differently?
-The donor truck is a 4 wheel drive, so do i use it's transfer case, or better off to get an adapter and use my 231? I already have a currie SYE on my case.
-How about the fuel pump in my YJ? Is it sufficient?
-What type of radiator should I use?
-Does someone sell the motor mounts, or do i need to make them?
-Should I keep the auto tranny that is in it, or try to get something else? I like the auto I have so I am staying auto, BTW.
-What about wiring harnesses? How do I integrate them? Is there a premade kit for this?
Whatever makes it easy is the way I probably want to go. During the swap, I will be borrowing my girlfriends car, and while it is nice, I don't like doing things like that. So whatever makes this
go smoothly (cough) and quickly is probably the best way.
any other things I am missing? Please, any help or advice is appreciated.
The other option is replace the cab, bed, and bumpers on the truck. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.. no way, my jeep needs a new motor.
