hi all, this is a first post for me and i would like to do some bending nothing major just a fornt bumper and i do not have the money to purchase and dies and i heard that some people have been able to bend with barke rotors is this possibale or am i going crazy? :confused:

It can be done w/ heat, but it will not be perfect, not even close to perfect. If it is nothing structural, then go for it, otherwise the distortion you are going to see at the bend will compromise the strength too much for a roll cage or the like. If it is just a bumper, you may be better off springing for a HF kinkomatic and just building the pieces you need out of schd 40 or schd 80 structural pipe.

A guy in this thread claims to have a good method for useing the kinkomatic dies on tube. Also claims to be building a rotary draw bender that uses the HF dies. Last we heard about it was about a month ago, and as far as I can tell he has not made any progress based on this thread http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=540058 and others he has posted in about building his bender, maybe PM him and ask if he is making progress...

i saw a homemade tube bender recently, but can't re-find the website, it was a uk site, and they guy used a small brake drum from I think a ford focus as the center section of his die, to which he added side plates to capture the tube. maybe somebody can have better luck with google.
