Noticed in the latest HF retail flyer this was on sale again

IIRC it was $159 With a 20 percent off cupon it would be a nice $127

Anybody bought one recently of this model? Hows it work and holding up?

Ive got it since the month before december (november?). I love it. For the money theres absolutely NO WAY you could ever come close to beatin it. Just make sure to grease everything before you start using it because they dont really do a good pregrease at all. Its a heavy mofo too... Best feature about it, even though its a cheap HF drill it still has the operation light inside it.

That's not the one on sale for that price, it's this one

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=43378

It has a little smaller motor, not quite as slow.

I got the one you posted above for christmas and it's a suprisingly solid maching.

Crap, you are right. Didn't have the flyer here in front of me. If I was spending the cash I would rather have the first one.

I have a Chinese one right (Dayton) now but it does not have an MT taper, just a JT style and I always have trouble with it on larger bits. The belts are also very thin an slip or flip over in the pulleys when running larger hole saws.

I've got the one in the first post, bought as a scratch and dent for $75. ooooh the top cover had a dent in the corner...waaaaahhh! :D First thing I did was take that junk chuck off and buy a Jacobs. Also modified the handle for more comfort since I use it every day and then added a coolant system to it for heavy drilling. Been 4 years now and still going strong.

I have the one I think you are referring to in the first post. THats what I did, on sale + 20% off, it was about $130 IIRC, normally $299. Hell of a deal.

It works well for me, but, as expected, the chuck is garbage.

Where can you get the JACOBS chuck from? I have the craftsman drill press (~$600) and the chuck brings the suck too.

Geez, I find these everywhere - even my local hardware has them. If you cannot find a local supplier, you might try MSC or Graingers....
