Anyone fly Radio Control around here?

I just signed up with 'El Dorado Flyers' (http://www.edrcf.org/home.html).
I have been flying off and on for years and have been a member of this club for years before. They have a field off White Rock @ Payen Road. I took a couple years off due to the move up the hill but now I wanna get back into it. Just picked up the latest 'Real Flight' flight simulator for the puter, to brush up before the real thing. Believe me, it helps a lot... :D

So, anyone currently flying or wanna learn?? :massey:

Been flying RC for about 6 years. I got really into it and had trick planes with trick radios. Now I have sold it all except for my Hanger 9 Easy Fly 40 trainer. For some reason, it's the funnest for me to fly. I can do loops and rolls and it recovers from mishapps really easy.
I will have to check out the club.

Same here. I tried some aerobatic planes. They require full attention and made me tense as hell. I found I wasn't enjoying it much and was worn out after a few flights. Trainers are much more forgiving and like you said, you can do loops and rolls etc with a good trainer. I'm buliding an Avistar and have a couple electrics. I tried helicoptors but I can't fly one of those to save my life. Too damn sensitive for me. I can't even fly one on my simulator. :( That reminds me, I gotta get some new fuel. :D:D

Club dues for new members is only $50. I think for renewing members, it's $25. I'm assuming the website is somewhat up to date...

First impression of the new version G3.5 R/C flight simulator by Great Plains.

It's not as easy as the older version. Maybe I need to just tweak it a bit but I find it harder to hit the runway with this new version. Maybe too much background. Trees/hills, etc. Harder to see the plane coming in. Maybe I just really need more practice. Crashes are much more fun. The plane breaks apart on impact, just like the real thing. :D And it sounds like a real bone-crushing crash too.

I've tried to modify planes and the software crashes every time so I'm not thrilled with that. Sometimes it seems to get hung up and I have to kill it to get out. Also on startup, it usually doesn't recognize the controller till you go click and select it. Then it works. Weird.

All in all, it's pretty good. Scenery is way better but that also slows down the screen and makes it a little jerky. I could use a faster puter. That would solve that problem but I just remove some of the detail stuff and that seems to work.

Anybody interested in R/C can drop by sometime and give the simulator a try. If you can fly this thing, you can fly the real thing. :D:D

In livermore we have a huge field down here they people are always at on the weekends.

Ya, I got the new flight simulator... But, you need the controller or the software is useless. And I only got one controller. You'll have to come visit me if you wanna try it. :D:D

Be careful. If you hang out at the field, just watching them fly, you'll get teh fever... :D And don't start out with a chopper. Them suckers are waaay harder to learn to fly than a regular airplane. I still can't fly one, even on the simulator. :rasta:

I used to in HS, now i have a wheeler that sucks most of my money. My buddies and i used to be into friendly combat style flying. The best was stick trainers with streamers. Slow, fun as all hell, and cheap. Maybe I'll charge up one of my electrics this weekend....

Dang.. I totally missed this subject. I got the G3 for X-mas. It's awesome. I'm an EXPERT on the blimp.. LOL.. just set the throttle and walk away, but how boring is that. It's fun to fly through the rainbow though. Don't have a favorite plane either.. just fun to experiment with 'em all. Heli's..? Forget it. Even the trainers with the double counter-rotating rotors.

What got me into this was last year when I bought a used Slow (slow stick) flyer and it had a 1.3 mp Aiptek camera with it. I've had it up about 3 to almost 400'. Got pix on a CD somewhere. I need to do some soldering and I can get it back in the air. I have a brushless upgraded motor and new gears to slow the prop down. Wanna help..? :D I've got the tools and parts.. and the time.. but I'm recovering from a MC accident. A car pulled in front of me.

PM me.. I can bring my laptop and we can plug our controllers into each other and fly together. You mentioned a slow pc..? I'm pretty good with PC's too.. You might just need some extra RAM..?
