: 3speed gears to 4speed tase question t wrecks 05-18-2002, 08:15 AM I just put the 3speed idler gear and shaft in the 4speed t-case. There is 0.015" of slop between the case and brass spacer, is this acceptable? Any other advise on this procedure is appreciated. Lord Baskerville 05-18-2002, 10:42 AM Per Factory Manual... I am usally not this anal about conforming to factory specs but Ive heard that when doing this gear swap you need to add spacers to the idler gear because the 3speed case is narower then the 4speed case. When I put mine together I had only the 0.015" gap and I wasnt sure if this is the space that I am supposed to eliminate. Guess I should put away the feeler gauges open a beer and put the fawk'n thing together. Cory I think I had .02XX" before the shim change..... t wrecks 05-20-2002, 04:33 PM I went ahead and ordered the next thickness up spacer from toyota to reduce the clearance to .010".
