Hey guys, I'm usually over on the Toyota forums, but my brother in law has a 94 1500 Sport w/360.
When we try to start it, starter just clicks for about 5 secs, then one of the two 40A IGN fuses blows.

Any ideas?

Battery checks out at 12.31V, battery connections look good, wires look good.
Unfortunately, the front of the truck is buried in snow, so we havent had the chance to dig it out so we can get under it and at the starter to check the wires/connections there.
Would the starter itself blow the fuse if it was bad, or is there anything else on the starter circuit that could blow a 40A fuse?

Oh, the starter relay checks good, and the rest of the relays look OK. (didnt check them, cause it was DAMN cold and bitter windy out yesterday, and the fingers werent working too well..LOL

Any ideas or advice would be MUCHO appreciated.
Thanx!

Sounds like a dead short if you're blowing 40amp fuses. Don't have any ideas of what is casing it, but I do have a tip for trouble shooting. In place of the fuse, wire in a headlight or an off road light ( + to one side of the fuse holder, - to the other). The light will come on if there is a dead short. Start to wiggle the wire looms around until the light goes off (you broke the ground side of the circuit). Then invesigate closer for bad wires.
