Saturday- delivered Uglyscouts IH truck to its buyer in southern Oregon. I was supposed to a passenger but Uglys beater dodge(95CTD) decided to wet the bed. So, I volunteered my rig to play tow truck. After that, I participated in some sweet Dodge on Dodge action. Now were expecting a little dodger soon:flipoff2:
Sunday- A good friend of mine passed away last week and I had to pickup the travelall she left to me. I always wanted a low rider.:D

How say you?
76scoutman 02-12-2007, 05:26 AM Went to a hockey game fri evening. Spent most of Sat helping a friend move, then messed around in the garage for a few hours. Sunday, stripped down the front end in the XJ and got ready to install a locker and beef up the steering to 1T TRE's over the knuckle.
Good looking gas struts there binderbound, too bad I'm ditching my full hardtop and going to a Terra Cab :D
Blind Driver 02-12-2007, 05:54 AM Bought some shelving from Sam's club to get all my crap off of the floor. Now I can see the floor again
Rearranged and organized everything so I can start working on my junk again.
uglyscout 02-12-2007, 07:09 AM Sat: Started out towing my ol' IH PU to it's new owner -- Blew a water pump about 40 miles from home - thanks to 6 gallons of collant in a CTD and 2 extra gallons I had in the back I was able to make it 15 more miles (with the 7000 pound trailer in tow :D and a HUGE smoke screen behind me) to Binderbounds house and hitch my trailer to his truck - Which he then drove all day.... Dropped off the ol' IH, returned to get my truck trailered from Binderbounds to my house. My lil' trailer got a work out today. 600+ miles two fullsize trucks. OUCH. (And it got another couple hundered miles and a Travelall on Sunday... See above pics :D. BigTex earned his keep this weekend )
Sun: Fixed my Dodge. I did drive my Scout to the parts store. It is very nice to be able to hop into an ol' beater that has sat for 3 weeks, turn the key and race off :)

NVScouter 02-12-2007, 07:23 AM I've been sick as a dog since Thursday, but my wife convinced me to get out a bit on Sun. So we took a trip and looked at a new camptrailer, then explored some mountain roads fresh after 2 days of rain.
We found a decent mud pit but I decided since we were alone in BFE in my fairly new Dodge (exactly like Binderbound's..BTW good taste!) I'd pass. So about 5 miles from the highway the side of the road I'm on is so saturated it collapses and pulls me into the ditch. I'm stuck in 1.5' of mud at a wonderful angle and the passenger door is about 1-2" from the mountain. Hallarity insues and about 30mins later I'm able to drive out.
During that fun time I learned that my wife's co-piloting skills need some serious work. I had her watching and telling me what was happening so I could limit the damage to my 05 CTD. Finally after asking "Whats the noise?" 3 times and getting an answer that only makes sense to her I get out and see a big rock in my door. So after we get back to town and I spend all my loose change at a car wash looking for damage I see the new character my truck has gained. Between me and the parking lots I think my 05 CTD is going to look like total shit in two years. I only have 22K on it too.

I just had a customer ask me about doind this. Let me know when your kits are ready as I may buy a few sets from you.
My weekend report - Saturday dealt with customers and then some Nascar. Sunday updated my website with some current builds and then went junk yarding.

scout254 02-12-2007, 07:42 AM Had fun trying to load my K30 on a deckover:shaking: ....Short ramps, winch, high lift, and rain .... sucked.
Goin to scrap yard.... dont want to spend the $1500 to $2000 to drop a 454tbi in her since the carbed 350 blew up.
Instead I'm looking for a 7.3L Ford diesel tow rig.:emb:
Sold the 1 ton axles to one of my friends so I can build his rig and make some more $$$.

Nathan 02-12-2007, 07:51 AM Sat- Woke up early to finish getting my '79 Scout II ready for ice racing on Lake Winnebago. Made a battery mount, made a new gas pedal, welded in fuel cell. I used 3/8x2in bolts. 132 bolts in a tire, padded with carpet then ran an inner tube. Finished 5th out of 12 trucks. 2 Seconds out of trophy contention. Almost rolled on first run. My buddies 6 month pregnant wife was my co-driver, he was too pussy:flipoff2: Amber rocks, laughing her ass off during the entire runs. It was a roadcourse plowed through snow, one vehicle at a time 38 seconds on first run, 37 on the second. I switched back to street tires to jump the track snowbanks. Hitting them at speed, I smashed front axle steering stabilizer through oilpan also ripping off shock mounts thereby ending my day. Partied hearty Sat night. Recovered Sunday morning. Pulled smashed oilpan, dug out one of my 11 spare oilpans.:D No rightstuff, truck should be running today. Pics to follow.

Mechanos 02-12-2007, 08:41 AM Sat. Put a muffler on my CTD so it would pass inspection. Funny... it sounds exactly like it did before I put the muffler on it, but it's there now so it will pass. Change oil, oil filter and fuel filter while I had it in my old man's garage. That night I went to the bar with a couple and friends and we managed to rack up a $260 bar tab for the evening.
Sun. not much.... kind of a blur.
RustoleumWhite 02-12-2007, 08:59 AM It was a nice weekend. Sun even came out!!
Saturday I drug the WM and the trailer out front and gave both a serious bath. Pressure washed the trailer deck to get rid of the winters' slime and then cleaned the WM inside and out (REALLY needed it). Even replaced the winch on my trailer. Off went the XX year old 1500# superwinch which was on it when I bought it (and served me well), on went the $50 HF 2K special... actually a nice little winch. Nice to have free spool now.
Sunday was sunny again (for the most part), bombed over to an old friends house to pick up an 800 that I had been storing over there for a few years. Pretty sure I got it sold. First tow outing with the WM and it performed... um... well.... till about 3 miles from home when it decided to cough, sputter and die on a blind hill. Don't know it if is/was crap in the tank, out of gas (its got 3 tanks and i have no really good idea how to switch between them, or even what tank I was on :D) or a vapor lock issue (392 create a fair amount of heat!). Was able to limp it home with out anyone plowing into me, or even getting all that pissed. That was nice. Definitely needs some work. Time to go through the brakes and seriously looking at a disc conversion for the front. Look over the entire fuel system. Check the timing and have a new carb built for it. New brake controller (since I have a new Prodigy and the old hydraulic unit works, but not perfectly) and start 'de-grampa'ing' it. Oh ya, when i was pressure washing it I was removing the strips AND some of the paint :D
Did get to see a nice piece of BCB yard art.... oh boy. Take a little to figure out how to get that running again and fix some of the little things. Feel sorry for the owner and what he paid into it.
Nice weekend over all, other than a hail/rain storm right in the middle... then sun again... got to love Washington.

What "stuff" did you buy? Are you planning on erasing and re-burning the 2732 EPROMs or have you upgraded to EEPROM?
Binder 02-12-2007, 09:53 AM No I'm staying with EPROMs. Bought a Moates "Ostich" emulator wich comes with Ture pro RT software. Lets me change programming in real time (works great). Also bought the adapters form Moates and soldered one in the PCM Sat. I also bought a chip reader/ burner but won't get it untill tomorrow or Wed. It's the same one Bill on the BB uses, can't think of the name right now. Also on the way is a UV eraser. The hardware stuff is prety straight foreward easy to understand. Read all weekend about programming stuff, going to take a lot more reading.:D
tsm1mt 02-12-2007, 10:23 AM I didn't wheel.:( .....Did buy some new toys for programming GM TBI stuff. Now is the (not so) easy part of learning how to use it.:D
Hardest part is understanding what the various line-items mean/do and how they're all added together to make something.
Like cold start.. there's the coolant temp, the cranking A/F ratio, the IAC, and a few other things that all factor in.
I'm still running EPROMS, with an eraser, and a Willem programmer.
I wheeled.

Participated in the United Four Wheel Drive 4WD Awareness training Sunday morning, then took a couple guys out to play Sunday afternoon. Turned out to have one built Rubicon and one stocker with me.
Lost a p/s return hose and had to bypass the cooler. Had a mostly uneventful trip to the lake, then fooled around in some of the drifts at the lake - some were hard, some were soft. Let the stock Rubicon give it a go a few times and we talked about technique.

Saturday we had our quarterly meeting for the M4x4A, the rest of the day was spent with my daughter.
Friday, OTOH.. had some excitement when we took the Buick surfing onto a big rock. Beat rear-ending someone, and no apparent body damage, but it probably needs an oil pan (it definitely needs some oil, anyhow).
Gotta get half of the C30 out of the shop and make some room to pull the car inside.. until then.. I swapped the 33" BFG No-Terrains off the green '73 and put the 235/75-15 studded snows on and away we go.
Redid my OBA last week - got tired of the hoses blowing every year or so.
$30 from Kilby got me a pair of these (but I only used one, so I have another for the next OBA)
http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=25824
Add in some 1/2" pipe..

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=25845&g2_serialNumber=1
And the hose lengths are kept to a minimum - one short straight shot to the manifold with the switch, gauge, safety valve that won't see much flow, another short straight shot down to the bumper/air tank - hopefully there's enough metal pipe to let the air cool before it gets to the hose and I can avoid it popping now and then.
If not, I'll move on to hydraulic hose.
Who says a Scout II isn't a great family car?
YellowIH 02-12-2007, 12:30 PM I pulled the rear 60 for a gear swap to 4.88's and a Detroit. Boy was that heavy to load by myself. Worked on finishing my rear cage to get a place for some VDP speaker pods like a TJ has that Santa brought me.
Realized why Off Roading has a bad name after some of the peeps I was around on Saturday..... :shakinghead: Some people are way out there.

I hate to say it, but I agree on the 9400i. Ours didn't even have doors on the cabinets. (ordered that way) My tv fell on the floor 6 or 7 times, even though it was strapped down. What motor did you have? I had bioth the Cummins, which I hated, and the Cat, which is a piece of shit. Supposedly it is normal for it to burn a gallon of oil every 60 gallons of fuel. and it was an '06, under 150k on it.
Kc J, let me know how you like CFI, I've been thinking of going with them.
BTW, I worked all weekend running empty trailers across the state. 2 days, 1200 miles, all on a 120 mile stretch of road. Fucking boring.
Blind Driver 02-12-2007, 03:18 PM I'm thinking about going with crete or CFI. I hate making these decisions:rolleyes:
Crete was gonna start me out at .40/mile. Big difference from my old rate at .35/mile. If they give me the miles, I'll be happy. It's gonna take some getting used to driving a 65mph truck :(
I had the Cat. Used a gallon of oil every 3 weeks, same for the coolant.

CFI was going to pay me .35 cpm, but said they would get me 2600 miles a week, home one or two days a week, and I could bank days off. And I can take my dog. Sounds good, but I want to get my junk built.
misterfubar 02-12-2007, 03:51 PM Had drill this weekend... it was our little "Welcome Home Warrior Citizen" shindig. Saturday Boeing rented a theater for us to watch the documentary that was made about my unit by PBS. It was actually really good, I was surprised. A couple people came off as whiney cry-babies, but overall it was great. I had a couple funny one liners in it. After that one of the local VFWs threw us a party with free booze. I had my fair share of the beam and coke.
Sunday was the actual awards ceremony with all the local mayors, a couple congressmen, a few 3 stars, and everyone of any importance in my brigade. It wasn't as painful as I expected... I normally hate any type of ceremony. We found out my unit got several Quad-A "unit of the year" awards(although I haven't been able to confirm it anywhere on the net), good news for those of us that are employed full time there. :smokin:
Nothing Scout related... I finally got some money I was waiting on so I'm going to be on a parts ordering frenzy this week. I have to decide what my priorities are. If I order my lockers, I won't have the funds to put my 1 tons under the Scout for while, the little stuff  like driveshafts, and steering parts will be holding me up. If I don't get my lockers I'll have the money to put them under it right away... So I'll go from locked 44's with 33's to Open 1-tons with 37's. Decisions, decisions, decisions...

so if i have a 1990 chevy 350 tbi, do i need that stuff too? i have absolutley no clue about tbi's or efi stuff, what do i need to run this engine in my scout??
sat: played video games all day Call of Duty 3 on XBOX 360 kicks ass online!:flipoff2: it was rainy all day so i had to do something productive
sun: helped my dad setup a concrete slab were gonna pour within a couple weeks, i saved him over $100 on fill, since i work for a concrete company and all the rock out stuff is free for the taking:D then its gonna be yankin out the 350 and settin it up on an engine stand and working on it... and i also have a lead on a 700r4 for $75 just needs a rebuild.. can you say OD:cool2: :cool2:

Buck Dodson 02-12-2007, 05:22 PM I webwheeled!!!! How awsome is that!
Kc J, let me know how you like CFI, I've been thinking of going with them.
Being an OTR trucking newbie and only having worked for CFI , I don't have anyone to compare them to . But I can tell you that they did all they promised me .
The one or two times a week home is just for regional drivers , everyone else is one day home for every seven days out . You can put in for home after being out ten days and they will get you home in four days .
Crete and CFI were me two final choices .
Some of the reasons I chose CFI over Crete .
CFI trucks run 67mph with the cruise and 70 with the foot . ( Crete 65 )
You are allowed a power inverter . ( None at Crete )
You can have anyone ride as a passenger . ( Wife or kids only with Crete )
I have been with them 6 months and average 10,000 mi a month so far .
Check out the CFI drivers web site .

Diesel Smoke 02-13-2007, 12:39 AM Friday, slept in until about 12:45. Pretty easy to do when you hit the sack at 5:30am:flipoff2:. Then spent the rest of the day at the Sportmen's Show. Way too oreinted towards fishing for my taste. Got to check out some pretty cool boats and RV's and listen to some Toyota Saleman who didn't know his ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to truck, the new Tundra included.
The rest of the weekend I screwed around here and there with my 74 pickup. It's nice to have lots of cash to throw at it. The amount of work I have got done in the last 2 weeks would have taken me months with what I use to be making. Really getting after it now.
Ended up the weekend (today for me) with lots of stuff getting done.
Replaced the old trans cooler line with new rubber lines. Found a great place to buy ATF rated hose for cheap, try 1.14 a foot!!:D. Decided to rewire the entire re-end. Ran new heater hose and valve. Found my giant vacuum leak, looks like I'll be getting more Ismail parts on the truck, thanks to Mr. Maybe. And a bunch of other little things here and there.
