I'm looking @ a 98 TJ to buy for my wife and I have a couple of questions .1st If this jeep has been flat towed like the owner says. Would it have still racked up the mileage being towed behind an RV ? It has an automatic tranny. 2nd, I plan on running a compression test on it tomorrow, what should it read if it still has good compression, it's got a six banger that shows 118K miles. Any help you can give me on this will be greatly appreciated. Thank in advance Rick

If it has a mechanical speedometer it would register miles while being towed, unless the driveshaft was disconnected.
Not sure what compression would be on a fresh engine, but I'd say anything over 150 is good. All cylinders should be within 10%

My 97 TJ has an electronic speedometer/odometer, It shows no towed mileage as the electronics are off during towing. It sounds like your candidate Jeep may have been driven the mileage shown and towed some miles beyond that.
