As long as it's kept in a decent environment? Long after both you and I are dead.

Ditto. Depending on the conditions it was in when it was sealed (usually hot and dry) and whether or not the seal everr get broken and/or the packaging damages and rounds (dropped hit etc).

I've always like the novelty of the SPAM can ammo.

I should have bought two, so I could open one and still had the novelty item.

CMP has a bunch of 30-06 spam can ammo from Turkey. Also a boat load of 30-06 Lake City in US type metal cans.

Hopefully when they announce pricing on the carbines on Friday they also announce .30 ammo

Those are a PITA to open.
Apparently there is a tool that I don't have. Dad and I pounded on the can all evening before we got it peeled off.

Those are 7.62 x 39 but I'm not going to pay shipping if I don't have to. Ammo is an item I prefer to pick up at Gun Show.

Yeah. Most places that I've found for the canned ammo are a ways away from me.

Typically if you buy new ones from sportsmans guide it is included in the box that the ammo is shipped in, for new production stuff anyway. For surplus you typically have to buy however many come in a wood crate to get the opener as well.

I don't see that ever happening unless the US was to switch to that round and then stop using it.
CMP is in essence US Military surplus weapons and ammo.
