The path to the Dark Side begins with the first rivet!!:vader2: :smokin:

Sean,

I think you are right. Ever since I took the rivets out for my rear bumper I've been thinking more and more and now I'm thinking I need to trim the body. It starts with one minor thing and then chaos evolves out of it. The key is to taming the Chaos after you let it out.

After grinding, drilling, and beating on rivets to get them out, I finally found the 'best' way. Picked up a air impact hammer set with 9 bits at harbor freight. I can get through the smaller rivets in 30 seconds or less. The bigger ones about 60-90 seconds. One of the bits is a punch. Once I pop the top I punch them through.

As for the dark side, my axles went on yesterday! :vader2:

I think the best way to ge the rivets out is the blue tipped wrench ;)
Least thats what i use :D

Probably true on the torch, but they are expensive and I don't have one. The impact hammer was $30 with the bits and it is fast. Loud as hell though.

15 minutes after getting off the phone with Woody, I was in the car and on my way to True Value to get a new angle grinder (trashed the bearings in my old one wire wheeling some parts). True Value was closed, but Walmart had an open box half pricer!! :smokin:

Maybe I'll try the impact hammer next, unless someone can tell me how to "torch" with my MIG welder!!

On a different topic, I picked up my SM420 today!! It gets a nice powerwash tomorrow!!:D I have another SM420 coming my way this week as well!! :rasta:

I was considering 55 rear springs. Woody :vader2: talked me into front and rear!! I'm going shopping Tues/Wed at a salvage yard near Boulder that I learned has a couple 55s. They are getting a call with my "reservation" tomorrow morning!! :D

HEY now....don't be a-blamin me for all this.....heh heh...

Note tho you now have a nice pic of the front hanger install....

Also, just got an email this morning from someone who installed 60-series rear springs for their SOA work...said the double-wrap is big enough to rub than hangers....I know the 55's do not, but you may wish to double check the front prior to install, since I used custom bracketry up there.

Dude, don't "Tip them off" that they have something by calling ahead!

Show up and make an offer...call ahead and they have you over the barrel!

Yea, I know, I just need to confirm my tip and that they have the 55s on site!! That's all. I can't go 170 miles to find out that the 55 isn't even there!! Especially if I'm bringing the wife with me!! Boy would she be pissed, but a quick trip to Costco would fix that!!;)

Brian, thanks for the phonecon Sat. The air chisel comes out today for a rivet party!!:smokin:

Hmmm, maybe I should do the custom bracket as well, since I have to box/repair that pax side frame anyway. Time to call my buddy at the machine shop - who is putting a Rolls on a K-5 frame/drivetrain. Looks pretty cool!!

Thanks again for the phonecan Sat. I hope I didn't keep you too long and shorten your din din date!!:)
