I just got done putting my new t-18 in my jeep and fired it up and no clutch. The fork moves all at full throw but nothing happens. I can't figure it out. I was told that the t-18 version that i got would work if i cut the pilot shaft off to about 1". I dont know whats goin on...any suggestions?

How about a little more info?
What was the t18 out of?
What Clutch did you use?
What type of adapters if any?
What type of throwout?

The stock t-98 (i think the number is right) was mated to the 231 first. I used the clutch and throwout bearing the same. I machined down the bearing retainer plate/shaft (sorry not technical name). The t-18 is a jeep with ford input shaft. I cut off the end of the input shaft and beveled it so it was the same length as the stock tranny.

Only guess I have is that the fork is sitting in front of the throwout bearing. If your bellhousing has the lower inspection cover, look up in there and see what is going on. If you don't have a lower inspection cover then pull the boot off the clutch fork and try to look through there.

I'll give it a whirl, any way that maybe the input shaft is too long and sittin in the crank?

That could be also. Try chocking the wheels or drive it up to a wall and see if maybe it isn't slipping enough. When I stuck a T18 in my friends CJ5 the clutch wouldn't disengage until we did that, must have been some sand or stuck in there that got kicked out once there was more resistance.
