I have decide to put a 350 in my 88 4runner. I have a 700r4 trans & T case and I tried to search but no luck. Does anyone run this setup and how much of a PITA is it to change over. I called a company to put a 302 and keep my 5 speed and tcase from my yota but they wanted 1,500.00 for the motor mounts and bell housing. Before I spend that much i'll put the auto in and rebuild my 350 motor. My 22re has 289,000 miles on it and it's about to go. Thanks for any help and keep wheeling :jeep:

i would assume most of that they want for the adapter bell housing, you can get conversion motor mounts for SBC's just about everywhere for around $100. i know a guy doing it but havnt looked into it too much, from my understanding it will clear just fine. That would leave you with making the motor mounts/buying conversion mounts and making a tranny/tcase cross member + all the little shit to make everything work

Thank you for the help, I found a few but nothing great. I hate my 4banger and I have a 302 ford and 350 laying around. Its alot cheaper to rebuild a nice 350 or 302 for the cost of the 22re... The hell with gas prices, I just want the power and a auto....

your milage wont be too much worse, i get 15-17 in my 4,500+ LBS scout with a 3 speed auto with no lock up converter
