Hey everyone got a question on a cam retainer..95 tahoe rebuilding engine and upgraded to roller cam from stock...I want to know what would be best to install for the cam retainer the factory one or an aftermarket Comp cams with a nylon button????from what I was told it could be either or but looking for some info from who's did it and which one is more reliable..thanks for the input...Pete

If your block has the provision for the factory style bolt on cam retainer (which it should), use the factory setup. If you really need to use aftermarket stuff, don't use the nylon style, use the "roller" style cam button. They cost a little more, but they never wear out and they are adjustable with shims for a more precise install than just filing a piece of nylon. I have used the factory style cam retainers in my race engines for years and never had a failure.

thanks bro I didn't get a chance to reply back I put on a new factory cam retainer seeing that comp cams told me for my block they don't make one...so far she looks good hoping to have it in this week...Pete
