: If you had a choice...

I am plannig a trip for a couple of us on the east coast to head out west at the end of June. We are looking at heading towards Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico. This will be the first trip we have made to this area and need some help picking locations to ride. We like anything from very technical to full throttle. It looks like we are going to take about two weeks to make the trip and would like to get the most out of it.

So, if you had the choice, where would you go and where would you stay? We will be in motorhomes and would like to camp close to the trails. I would also like to know where not to waste my time at.

Once we pick locations, we will need to get in touch with some locals for a little help with the area. I'll post that up when we get a little closer to time.

Thanks

It would probably help if you described your vehicles...that would largely determine your possible destinations for a good time.

The two vehicles that I know will be going:

yj - 350/nv4500/60R detroit/44F ARB sitting on 39.5 IROKS

XJ - 6cyl/auto/60R Detroit/ 44F Detroit sitting on 37 IROKS

We have tried everything Tellico has to offer and saw most of Harlan.

These have already suffered alot of body damage so little more won't hurt.

We normally go after the harder stuff and speed down the small stuff. Out of the group that we normally ride with, we are the two that end up leading the pack and try new/harder obstacles first.

Arizona will be 100+ during the day by the end of June. If you want to wheel here I'd suggest winter or spring. With D44's I'd suggest Table Mesa, just north of Phoenix and bring spares :D

Moab. Variety, choices, best bang for buck in one area.

It will be hot though.

the trip is going to be about 2000 miles one way, so I will have spares of alot of shit and the shafts for the 44 will deffinatly be there! I don't know if you have wheeled on the east coast before, but traction is not very good. Most of the time everything is wet and slippery and I am sure that is the reason the 44 has lasted as well as it has.

I don't know if we will make it into AZ or not. Probably start in Moab and move out from there.

Does everybody pack up for the summer?
