I know this isn't "hardcore" but I posted this in the newbie forum a week ago and didn't get any responses that were worthwhile...
I have a 95 YJ with the shitty D35 and a lock right. Whenever I put the Heep in reverse, the locker ratchets. One of the tires doesn't move at all, and the other one is getting almost no power. Has anyone had this problem before with a lock right. I called Richmond, and their response was to open the diff cover and look to see what was wrong! No shit! I opened the diff, but my cross shaft bolt sheared off as I tried to loosen it (it was about to pop off before I even put my wrench on it.)
The only thing that I can think of is that the leading edge of the teeth when carrier spins in reverse are worn down. This doesn't make any sense because the leading edge in forward would be worn before reverse, and why would EVERY tooth be worn? I know, I need to get rid of it, but until I get an 8.8 I need to solve this problem so I can back up out of parking lots.
