Ok I'm looking for some info on a ford 8.8 out of a '99 Exsploder. I'm putting it in a '93 YJ. What I need to know is can the stock "posi"(Limited Slip) be adjusted tighter? Thanks for any and all help..

You can stuff an extra clutch disc or two in there to tighten it up. I've heard that replacing the fluid WITHOUT the limited slip additave will also tighten it up...but it will chatter and could possibly wear out quicker.

I don't see how you could add an extra clutch, there's just not enough room in there. If you order a clutch kit for the factory Trac-Loc it should come with an assortment of different thickness shims, a kit should cost around $50 to $60 shipped. Use the thickest shims you can with the new clutches & you'll be good as new. Also soak the new clutches in limited slip additive before installing them in the differential so they don't chatter.

you can also snag a S spring from a fullsize 8.8 (150 or similar) they have a stronger spring which will help "lock it" more.

Yeah, you can add an extra clutch by removing one of the steels. It just seams like the clutches would wear fast into the side gear & cast differential. I might try it, I'll be going to a spool or Detroit soon anyway.

Might sound off base but can I put a Lock-Right in a LS carrier?

I know they used to make them for the 28 spline 8.8"s, but not for the 31 spline 8.8"s.

Yes, but it's no No Slip version. I have one in mine now.

You'll need to buy a open differential carrier to install a Lock-Right locker, they don't make one for the posi units. At that point I'd invest in a Detroit locker and be done with it.

look at the the link I just posted with a write up from Bill Plein (billavista) - its for a Auto locker put into a LSD case for an 8.8. its "no-Slip" from Powertrax, but fundamentally the same as a lockright/Aussie etc.

Thanks I'll have to read through it, only thing I noticed is that the pics don't seem to work.

yeah, I saw that too. but my point was for the expense of putting that thing in (its not as inexpensive as s locrite) I would rather spend a little more and throw a Detroit in it. I would assume that the Power Trax noslip would have more predictable handling on the street. just my $0.02

the No slip for the 8.8 is about $400 bucks. I'm happy with it. Mine is a DD and give me no problems. I just need to get a front locker:(

Your right, Powertrax makes them for the limited slip, 83-86 part# 92-06888-3127 & 87-96 part# 92-06888-3128.
