I have a bell housing that was used to mate my SM465 to a 350. I am sure that it will work for a SM420. It is in good shape. I will let it go for $45. If this works for you, I can ship it out. Just let me know, Thomas

I have a downey bellhousing that was supposed to adapt a three speed cruiser tranny to a V8 that should work.

It is aluminum..

but the three speed has a bigger...whadaya call it "hole size. ya know" like to mate the sm420 to the 3spd b.h., you need the ring to space it in the larger hole. right?!:rasta:

Dustin, et al; the 465 BH center hole/indexing hole is too big for the 420. Hate to say it, but steel is better than aluminum (ask me how I know!)

Ian, not!

the sm465 bell housing will not work. the cast iron bell housing that will fit an sm420 is pretty common though.

My buddy had one in his garage last time I was over there that he is not using. I will check with him tonight to see if he still has it.

I also broke an alluminum bell housing once before and it sucked ass, running a low 16 on the 1/4 mile with a pumped 302 and a 3 spd tranny with 36's, then BAM!!!

Those bell housings are everywhere, just go to a junk yard or save time and go to Subway truck yard in Sac and get everything you need in one shot.

Dustin,

I have an '86 and up 163 tooth flywheel, clutch and pressure plate available. I'll trade you for some cruiser parts. I can get the parts to Complaine.

Get on the horn fool! You want info, you gots to call the people who have what you want. What year motor did you get? In 1986 they made lots of changes to the bolt pattern of a small block, plus internal changes. BTW, 81-86 would be the worst possible years you'd want for a 305 or 350!! Mainly cause of the electronic controlled carb, but also they were gutless smogged years.
