I doubt the newer design, 2 piece, cast exhaust manifold is cracked. You may need a new exhaust manifold gasket…

I doubt it is NOT cracked...they're ALL cracked.

It isn't the lifters.

I thought they rolled out of the factory with cracked manifolds

spray soapy water on it with the motor running. look to see bubbles then it cracked. if not then its good.

Possible, but not probable. I’ve been replacing pre 2000 manifolds with 2000 and up 2 piece cast manifolds and have yet to see one crack…

HAHA Its a HOT exhaust manifold, not a tire.... yes start the motor and see if the manifold stays cool enough to "spray soapy water on it" with out the reaction called evaporation.

good luck eith the soapy water!

use a stethoscope and listen for leaks, also the 4.0Ls have noisy valve train, and if its newer than 03 they are notorious for eating cam shafts and lifters...

I just replaced the Manifold on my XJ, now the only problem is I hear everything else that might be a problem...a click here, a squeak there...but it no longer sounds like a diesel

I'm thinking I have the same issue, just its not constant, it will fade away and back. Its not a long them thing, it will fade out for like 10 seconds then start up for like 20 seconds etc. Kinda pisses me off. I wish it was just an obviouse chunk of mainofold missing so I could have peace of mine and not sitting around wondering when the tow truck will arrive.

Both. I have had a few cracked manifolds. From 50,000 miles until the current mileage (~105,000) the lifters have rattled on startup.

Ditto. Mine did both. I had 115k miles on my jeep and have lifter noise on mine.

I also cracked the manifold twice. The first was stock, the second was an accordian style manifold that never failed. Lasted like 30k miles before I sold the Jeep. I think I paid like $125 for the manifold.

Great. How long you think till my shit blows up, again, since I don't think I can keep a motor for a year.

I wish my transmission would blow up. I hate my T150. Nothing like sitting at 3k rpms just trying to do 50. I don't even see how, I'm supposed to have only 3.54 gears. I wish it would blow up and dump crap all down the road in a blaze of glory just so I'd have a good reason to spend all the money to replace it.

Is hell frozen? :flipoff2:

I know your products listed are for the thread starter's issue, but i've always been told that if I put headers on my 304 I'd always be fighting leaks from the bolts backing out.
