: Wheel BS and spacers?

Whats everyone running?

I have 3.75" bs wheels and 1" spacers. My 38.5" 14.5" tsl/SX's are rubbing the springs when turned and thats with the steering stops cranked out, I'd like to crank them all the way in. I'm thinking of going 3" wheel spacers? any cons to doing this?

Leverage is the largest down side. But considering the weight of the car and the fact that it isn't driven on roads and highways where heat can build on bearings and such it's likely not all that big of a deal. Basically the further out the wheel and tire are from the bears and ends the more leverage displaced on those components.

Hey, BTW. If you wheel in the State of Wash. you might want to take a peek at the F-Toy #56 thread. There's a Bill in the Senate that's likely to pass that will effect the offroading in that state.

Scrub radius. It'l be harder to make tight turns. I'm using 2.5 bs and the only thing that hits is my lf tire at stuff turning right it contacts the pittman arm a little. That's with the skinny Trxus comp tires. I had 1.5" spacers and took them off to make it turn better. On our comp rig i'll be using a wider front axle and decreasing the bs even more to achieve an even better turning radius.

With 14.5 wide tires you really don't have much choice. Understand by going to bigger spacers it will be noticably harder to steer. If you have a selectable locker in the front, that will help.
In the Marlin Crawler rig, we run 37x12.5 krawlers, 1 1/2 spacers, with a 3.75 back space on the rim. I would bet that it turns sharper than most without the tire touching the spring at all.

Desertoy, yeah they're a wide tire, but they work real good for my local area so I decided to stick with them for now. One day I'll get some sticky's :)

I have an elocker and hyrdro assist so hopefully that help with any steering issues. I don't think it'll be a problem except for maybe in some comp situations.

I have been digging around a bit so the plan now is to build a new housing with a longfield fj60 short axle so i can gain 2" i width and just keep my 1" spacers so I don't increase my scrub radius.

depending on how long that takes to get organized and done I might just try out the spacers for a bit.
