: New Bumber for the SII
Rubicrawler 05-20-2002, 05:17 PM It took all weekend, but we got it done :) I couldn't have done it without the help of Dave Mills (from this board)! Thanks buddy! Here's a few pics of the bumper fab and install as well as some lower body trimming :)

Not sure about the wrap around yet. It can be added if we decide it needs it.
You can see the new "body mounts" in the 3rd pic. Look carefully at the top of the rear frame x-member.

See previous post re the rings.
And thanks!
Here's a riddle for y'all:
What do you get when you mix a stuborn bumper bolt, a heavy 1/2" drive ratchet and a 255 pound jackass with a few too many 's in him?
Answer= shattered eye glasses (thought they were safety glass), blood everywhere :barf:, all the steri-strips we had in the house and the worlds worst shinner :rasta:
I think I'll survive :emb:
BTW- I got the bolt off!

PICS!!!! :flipoff2:
The bumper looks great. You got rid of the old body mounts and had the perfect solution for a bumper mount! Is that just square tube between the body and the cross-member?

Square tube and a couple of old body mounts :) It's just a temporary fix. I have a couple of other ideas in mind that are more rugged.
SSGTWC 05-21-2002, 10:16 AM Mark,
I'm curious as to what thickness rec. tube you used? Looks real good though, I like the D-rings especially. :D :flipoff2:

Thanks for the nice comments :) I used std receiver tubing. I think it's .250 thick.

Huh, you need all the help you can get there to avoid tearing up the body when you drop down on a rock, or cut a corner too close. Not that it matters for my rig, but Amanda's rig still has a clean and straight body.
