1998 K1500 Suburban. I'll be hauling about 5500lbs (jeep and trailer). I was looking at the Uniroyal Laredo All Season AWP which is a 10 ply E rated 3042lb tire. I think it was OE on this truck. Don't know cause I bought it used and it's on it's second set. 4 will cost me <$500. If I go with BFG (AT) the best I can do is 6 ply and more aggressive tread and about $250 more bucks. What are you running? Thanks for your comments.

Hated the BFG All-Terrains on my strictly street driven dodge 2500, put michelin mtx m/s load range e on it and they work good. I run 80psi when towing and they ride great.

i wouldn't be to worried about tires... i'b be DAMN worried about the 10 bolt rearend grenading on you!!!
That seems like a bit much tire for a 1/2 ton Sub. It would be more at home on a 3/4 or 1 ton. I use 8 ply tires on my F250 and at times pull four times what you're expecting to pull. A 10 ply tire is going to make your unloaded ride pretty harsh. Think about how much time you spend driving with nothing in tow.

I'm putting some "D's" on my 98 Chevy dually later this week.

I agree with every one of teh coments made above.
watch your 10bolt, it will explode.
load range E on a 1500 is WAY overkill.
Look into the possibility of swapping to a 14 bolt rear if you are going to continue to haul those kinda of loads.
Tire recomendations are as follows: any Michelin is going to be superb both in ride and in life but you will pay for it.
I personally LOVE my Goodyear WorkHorse's. They have a great tread (not too agressive, not too timid) and come in load ranges C, D, and E. Not too sure about pricing or if they are even still available.......

BFG Long Trail is the best tire I have found for that application. I believe it was one of the OEMs for that truck. The 98 sub I had came with Goodyear Wrangler RT/S. Personally I like load range E and run them on everything if I can get them. However, the sub I "think" only has load range D long trails on it. Its the second set. The first set went 65k or and still had decent tread. RTS were bald at 50k. The trucks got 120k now and it has only been on the road for 3years in July.
Long Trails are cheap at Sam's Club <100 installed. Uniroyal is crap and at $125 is overpriced and there is no way they were OEM for a 98 Sub. Go Michelin LTX M/S or BFG long trail. Dunlop RT is good if you need more traction.

PS your 10 bolt will not blow up anytime soon IMHO. deal with it if it ever happens
