How the fawk do you get the top of the dashboard off? The chiltons just says "remove all screws" Guess what I removed all the fawkin screws and the top of the dash don't wanna come off. Anybody done 1 of these? got any tips? o yeah its a 99 2500 4x4 5.9 gasser automatic laramie so every option if that makes a difference. i think 94-02 should be the same. and now its raining. I've done two on a 97 but it's been awhile. Remove the bolts along the top of the dask near the bottom of the windshield, loosen the lower mounting bolts near the kickpanel, lower the steering column, and disconnect heater controls, etc. I did it the second time without disconnecting the ac but I didn't have as much room to move around. You will have to remove several things from the dash before it will pull away. If I hadn't been working so many hours the past couple of months I'd offer to help you since I'm in San Jose

I just did one of these last night. You can do the whole job without actually pulling the dash from the truck

First you need to remove the kick panels. Then the panel under the column then the glovebox door. Then pull the 2 nuts to drop the column. Pull the bolts under each side under the kick panels. pull the bolts at the base of the windsheild. Dash is now loose. on the pass side, wiggle the dash out and up and use a peice of wire to tie the dash to the grab handle. You can now see the top of the heater box. There you can see the blend door cable. use a straight blade screw driver to pop it loose. You'll see a ground cable on one of the heater core clamps. it connects to one of the studs holding the heater box to the firewall. Remove both of its nuts. There is one more bolt on the extreme right side of the heater box going straight up. Now go to the engine compartment. remove heater hoses, ac lines. There are 4 nuts on studs that need to be removed. One is at the center behind the dist. there are 2 right under the ac lines, and 1 hidden under/behind the PCM. After the 4 nuts are off the heater box can be pulled inside the truck until the heater core pipes are clear of the firewall. Pull the 3 phillips screws from the hear core clamps and wiggle the core loose and out of the truck. Make sure you apply foam tape to the new core. Put it back together. :smokin:
