Ok so who makes a good lower at a good price? I've been looking around and it seems like everyone and their mother makes one... Which one is going to be good quality but not break the bank?
Also what in the hell are all the different numbers and letters when it comes to uppers... A2 A3 A4 M4... It's quite confusing...

Stag Arms makes good quality stuff at a decent price.
An A2 upper has a carry handle with an adjustable rear sight. The A3/A4 upper has a rail instead of a carry handle, though it may be sold with a removable carry handle as part of a package.
An M4 is a specific configuration of rifle. It is made by Colt, includes a collapsible rear stock, and a 14.5" heavy barrel with A2 flashhider and M203 cut. Anything in this configuration not made by Colt is referred to as an M4orgery. There are various iterations of the M4, some with A2 uppers, some A3, etc., but my description is the basic rifle.

Pretty much...
Almost all AR15 lowers are the same shit. Rock River Arms/Stag/DPMS/LMT are all quality lowers. POF makes a Billet lower that's pretty cool, although more expensive.
For uppers I'd stick with CMT/LMT, but that's just my preference...

are you looking for a kit? or just a complete gun.
Alot of the lowers are the same, most depends on what you want the lower to say...

I'm wanting to build my own... But I'm thinking I better snag a few lowers before Pelosi has her way... Not too mention Maryland's new governor :mad3:

You will find Cast, Forged, or plastic, Forged is the best

I think it all comes down to which logo looks the best. Personally I like the bat/dragon/phoenix/whatever on the side of my Double Star Arms (also J&T Distributing)lower

Uhh no, a "real" M4 is a 14.5" government profile barreled flat top select fire carbine with a collapsing stock.
An AR15 carbine on the other hand is whatever you feel like with a shorter barrel. Unless of course you think that calling all AR15 rifles "m16s" is cool.
As for lowers, most are actually made by the same companies with different logos and company names on them for individual distributors.

They are getting harder to find, but the MEGA Lowers have been great! I have 3 builds on those. My RRA Lowers are tight on most of my uppers.
Sun Devil has a nice billet lower out but its width is a little less then spac. My KNS pins have some slack in them. VLTOR is rumored to be having a lower coming out to match the billet MUR upper.

The only real difference between an M4/M16 and an AR15 is the sear, bolt (many have M-16 bolts in their ARs) and the fire control/selectors...
