I would like to put a set of headers on my 83 suburban when I build the engine, but I am having trouble finding headers for the air injection system. I have heard that you can run the air lines back to the collector and inject there, and the guy at Jegs said I should also be able to run a line and inject at the tube in the cat convertor (It does have a line tap there). Anyone know if this will pass?

The air is injected into the head via the exhaust manifold to aid in the combustion process, wouldn't work at the collector or cat.
You can have headers modified for the air tubes. But in the long run its cheaper to by headers already equipt with the tubes. Hve you tried Summit or Northern Automotive for the headers.:skull:

I've been pricing some headers, and the the cheapest ones look like they are around $250.00-$300.00 vs $85.00 for the non-air. That's a BIG difference. I'm less worried about the actual functionality of it, I just want to pass the visual. I have even considered welding threaded bungs on a std set also.

Then weld some bungs on the set but don't drill the hole into the pipe. Then they're there for looks only.;)
