Can someone point me to a source of info explaining how to
setup a TH350, specifically the vacuum modulator and kickdown cable?

Setting up a 1995 TBI and TH350.

Which kickdown cable to use? Just go to a dealer and pick up one from
an older 350/350 appication?

Plumb vac mod to intake source of vacuum or?

Appreciate any info.

I'd also like to hear about this. I am using a 1973 TH350 with the matching 350 but am converting to TPI.

someone will corect me if i'm wrong

but the vacume for the tranny comes off a port in the rear of a factory intake manafold. As of kick-down cable I would imagen geting one off a truck with TBI with a 350 (if that setup exisist from factory:confused: ) there might not be a difrence between carb and TBI but not sure

Go ask this question on the chevy site or on the Coloradok5 board and you will get an answer. I have done it on both a 350 and 700r4 and I Just adjusted the kickdown cables until I got the shiftpoints that felt right at rpms that felt right. Never had a problem with either one. Ran the 350 for 1 1/2 years and pulled it running just fine, and am still on the 700r4. Vacuum modulater on the 350 goes to a port on the manifold just behind the carburator. Later 700r4s (4L60E) did not have a vacuum modulator as far as I know.

You should be able to use a kick down cable off of any TH350 As far as I know the cables are all the same. I took my "Dual Jet" carb off for a Q-jet and the same cable works for both. You will probably have to fabricate your own mounting bracket or modify an existing one and fabricate a mounting pin for the cable on the TBI.
The way I've always set them up is at full throttle there should be no more pull left in the cable.
You do have about a half inch of adjustment either way on the cable by holding the cable itself and either turning in or out on the mounting block (square part of the cable with the hold down clips).

It's been so long since I've messed with a adjustable modulator I don't remember how to set one up other then it needs to be connected to direct vacuum off the manifold.
Best bet would be to give a trans shop a call as to setting the shift points with the screw in the end of the vacuum port on the modulator or you could try trial and error, I mean it ain't rocket science!:D
