First post so go easy...

I've got a 700r4 in a 92 GMC Z71 backed by an NP 241.
I've got a SAS in the works and will be running a GM D60 up front, so I need to swap my t-case.
I believe that the 700 has a 27 spline output, and I have an NP 205 that was formerly mated to a TH350 also 27 spline.

Will the 700r4 and the NP 205 mate or will I need an adapter....

TIA

You will need a spacer of sorts. Call Offroad Design. They fixed me up with mine. Thier stuff is alot easier than what Advanced Adapters will want to sell you.http://offroaddesign.com/index.htm

I am doing the short output shaft for the 700r4 to allow me to use the 205. I need that 2" for my rear shaft. If DS lenth isn't an issue then add the 2" spacer and call it good. Also is alot cheaper with the spacer. And to answer your question, yes it will bolt on with the 2" adapter between them.

And what are you doing about the VSS? Moding the tailshaft and housing on the 205?

I Have Personaly done 4 of these coversions and I agree with the outher guys run the 2 " spacer and cut the 1/8 " off the back of your current Trannny out put put your Factory 205 adapter on then go buy your grade 8 metric studs ( Long enough ) to go all the way trough the spacer and the adapter and still have some good thread to put your nut on then install 205 tcase change drv shaft lengths and go wheel it :-)
FYI the PROBLEM I HAD when i did the advance adapter way ( By putting the 2 " stud shaft in the 700 r4 was the Drive shaft was only 1/16 to 1/ 18 away from hitting the Tranny pan
hope it helps and good luck

P.S. if you Decied to run the spacer I have a used 1 4 sale Just pm me

bggrnchvy: I hadn't planned on running the VSS, will I have to correct anything in the ECM or will I just lose my Speedo?

Killer"b"3: Length is not an issue for me as I will be leaving the trucks wheelbase alone for now.

xsintrick1: how did you go about shortening your output shaft without ruining the splines?
PM sent

Thanks for the help!

i shortened my output shaft w/ an abbrassive blade on a skil saw and i cut it on the rig, works perfectly to this day.

also there are companies that sell after market pieces that convert your mech spedo to electric i pay around 120.00 for em locally and yes good chace you will need it as the ecm needs that info for how much fuel to send the throttle body or injectors
