Alright, so I have a 85 cj7 that I started with. I picked up a 350, sm465, 14bolt, and a dana 60 from a 1990 f350. I already have a dana 300 and I planed on keeping it but since I found the 60 for $150 (guy thought it was a 44) I couldn't pass it up. Problem is obviously the 60 is a drivers side drop and my tcase it passenger side.
I know I can pick up a flip kit for the 300 but I would also need an adaptor from the 465 to the tcase. That seems to be too much to spend just trying to keep the 300 I already have. What would you guys suggest? Just sack up and run the good dana 300 I have with a flip and adaptor or just get a different tcase? and if you think a different tcase then what would you suggest, keeping in mind i want to keep the drivetrain somewhat short?

You could sell/trade off the Driver Drop 60 for a pass drop 60 or you could take a look at any number of driver drop transfer cases. In the end I think it would be more expensive trying to adapt the 300 for your stuff..
think outside the 300 and see what other tc's you can use without an adapter or selling/trading your driver drop 60 for a pass drop.

im most likely not getting rid of the dana 60 because its a high pinion and has kingpins so i would really like to keep those obviously. i'm pretty set on selling the 300 and getting a new tcase because the costs of a flip kit and adaptor is just too much.
any opinions on what tcase i should pick up? this jeep is not going to be driven on the street at all.
i'm toying with the idea of throwing a 203 in there but haven't seen many people do this before and im curious to know why. any suggestions are appreciated

If your wanting to stay with the driver drop 60 I would suggest selling the motor and tranny. Find a Ford with whatever size motor you want and a tranny geared like your 465 say a NP435(6.69 1st) or T18(6.32 1st) bolt up a NP205 (the Ford version has 32 spline front and rear already) and wheel it.

why would i sell the engine and tranny? there has to be a drivers side tcase thats worth having that mates to my 465

With all the time and money wrapped up in the adapters and what not to make a Chevy tranny mate to a Ford t case why not sell it. I spent 100 on a NP205 and 75 on a NP435. beats 400- 500 for an adapter

maybe you could find an np241 out of and 1988 and newer chevy truck that came behind sm465 and put a spil yoke elimnater on it. offroaddesign offers one. and i think it has some where around a 2.75 low.
