I have just got a 92 Ram Charger with a 318 that is very tired. The block sayes it is a 91 block. Dodge changed blocks to a magnum in 92. So what do I have, a 91 or a 92 mag?

Easy to tell, if it's a '92 and up Magnum engine it will be multiport fuel injection (a fuel injector for each cylinder) with fuel rails on each side of the intake manifold, or a '91 model will have throttle body injection.

Don't know how you're telling when the engine was built, but even a '92 MPI engine could have been built in late '91.

The magnum will have the "beer barrel" intake, and 10 bolts (I think) on the valve covers.

I would think a nother give away would be V-belts. V-belts and you don't have a magnum.

On earlier models yes, but my old '91 Dakota with a 5.2 LA engine (non-magnum) used a serpentine belt.
