I'm getting really tired of cutting out square pieces with a band saw and then rounding everything with a grinder. There's got to be an easier way. I don't do any machine work and really don't feel like paying someone to make things a little prettier. Any suggestions. I figure I'll probably paint it :rainbow: after I figure out how to make it pretty.

And

Have a ton of pre-cut brackets at fairly reasonable prices
Many other vendors as well
www.lambcomponents.com is another one worth looking into

I just put in a request for a catalog............ that sure would save alot of time instead of hand-fabricating alor of those little brackets.

You will get the AA catalog really fast. I think it took less than 2 weeks to get after I submitted the request.

Thanks I'll check those out. Problem is I usually don't know what I need till I start building it. Then I don't want to wait and order crap. I guess I could try to plan ahead a little bit but what fun would that be?

Nope...I found an aftermarket 5/8" lug nut with a 60* taper at $0.90 each!!!! I am drilled out my rotors and I am good to go.

something that works pretty well for me. do your rough cut with your bandsaw or whatever cutting method suits your needs. Then use a vertical belt sander. I usually scribe in the radius with some dyekem and go to town with the belt sander. works great. A buffing wheel on your bench grinder makes it look professional even. Works a hell of a lot better than a angle grinder.

What I like using is the flap disks on angle grinder. Still makes a mess, but it seems to be easier on my hands.

1) Draw outline on steel plate
2) Cut with flame or plasma torch
3) Grind edges with regular grinding disc depending on how roung it is
4) Grind edges with "flap disc" in 80 or 120grit to polish them and make them look professional.

Hydrolic shear! These things make brackets so much eaiser and cleaner. Still have to a little bit of grinding but nothing thats going to take hours to do.

verticle metal bandsaw. sand on verticle belt sander and polish wit buffing wheel. No heavy grinding to do.
