: Busted Super Duty trackbar! HELP

My boss has a '00 (I think) Super Duty F250 with about 6" Tough Country lift on it. I guess it was one of the first Tough Country lifts for a Super Duty and didn't have a drop bracket for the trackbar on the front axle. As a result, the lower bracket that is also connected to the steering stabalizer is busted in two peices.

He's had it welded once before because it had cracked and the shop that welded it, has it now and is planning on just re-welding the bracket. He was told that the only other option is to replace the entire front axle!! Sounds like BS to me.

Has anyone else had this problem, and what other solutions are there? Are there replacement brackets available? What suggestions can you give me?

Thanks everyone.

Mistake #1 was buying anything from Tough Country... :flipoff2:

But really, it's a leaf-spring truck. I dunno why Ford puts track bars on them, but you really don't need it. You might get a bit more bump steer without it, but I doubt it.

That's all he's experiencing right now anyway is a little bump steer, but he still doesn't want to be driving around with a busted bracket and I don't think he's interested in completely removing the track bar.

Any other repair options?

Yeah, toss that track bar. Leafs don't need them. The Manufacturers put them there for on road responsiveness.
If you really want to keep the track bar then get the drop bracket or you'll just still keep breaking the mounts.
