: Bruiser rig stolen!
injectedEB 05-21-2002, 08:14 AM this has to be a double post but I couldn't find it already so here it is:
I got this from the colorado4x4.org board:
"The Bruiser was stolen this morning from the Denver Avalanche out on Sante fe and Titan rd, Please keep a look out for it or parts unique to the Bruiser. I will post additional images and updates later. Thank you, Clifton"
http://www.colorado4x4.org/uploads/Imga0099.jpg
ScoutsHonor 05-21-2002, 08:17 AM Dammit... what the hell is wrong with people? Stealing someone else's hard work... and not only that... but whats the point of stealing a unique rig like that? That'd be like stealing my Scout or stealing a Sniper or something... If I see it down this way there will be a definite ass-whoopin dealt.... :mad3:
Sorry... just had to vent for a second... I'm tired of thieves.
sceep 05-21-2002, 08:19 AM I'm keeping my eyes open down here in albuquerque for any parts that show up.. what "unique" parts could we identify easily? atlas #'s, coilover brand/sizes?
Lance 05-21-2002, 08:21 AM Jesus Christ! That rig is waaaaay too well known to be used by anyone. Odds are it will be stripped. :( Im really sorry to hear about this, Clifton. :( Chris will add your rig to our stolen vehicles page.
SHERPA 05-21-2002, 08:24 AM wholly crap! who'd be RETARDED enough to think they wouldn't
get caught for taking that rig????????? there's no way in hell that
you couldn't identify that rig........ anywhere............... obviously
this/these people are not smart,
probably don't know how much internet/magazine coverage
that rig has been given, and did I say they were stupid also?
I REALLY hope Clifton get's his rig back, but I'd bet it's already
being parted out............ THAT SUCKS BIG TIME.
Sorry to hear about it Clifton........... I hope it's fully insured for
replacement costs...........
--Sherpa
convertiyota 05-21-2002, 08:25 AM Does it sit outside??  That sucks man. Hope you get it back.......
EDIT.......here's a link to that thread.

Mustard Dog 05-21-2002, 08:37 AM Does anyone know details on the theft, like how it was done:confused:
sceep 05-21-2002, 08:43 AM off of the colorado4x4 board
...Here is a quick run down of some of the most recognizeable parts on the Bruiser:
Avalanche advantage rear axle
Dana 60 Front with yellow rock ring
38" M/T Baja claws competition compound
warn winch 8275 original Jeep model
360cid fuel injected motor
turbo 400 tranny
1" billet beadlocks 2 yellow 2 blue
bigdude 05-21-2002, 08:47 AM I'm assuming they threw it on a trailer rather than driving it away. So how do you stop that?
Fuel cut-offs and electric cut-offs are one thing, but chains are all I can think of to prevent loading a rig on a trailer, those can always be cut though.
Guess it goes to show that if thieves want something bad enough they'll find a way to get it. I'm definitely talking to the insurance company soon about theft insurance:eek:
jp junkie 05-21-2002, 09:33 AM The fawkers that took it should be easy to catch. I say we take care of them and leave the police out of this one. Teach the fawkers a major lesson. That was an absolute wrong thing to do.:mad3:
Balls the size of church bells.
The lack of respect for other people's stuff is amazing.
Sundowner 05-21-2002, 09:41 AM I wouldn't worry too much.
a rig like that, they can't use it, they can't part it, and I'd be damn suprised if they could hide it. obviously the work of morons.
SSGTWC 05-21-2002, 10:21 AM I'll keep my eye out here in Kansas, sorry to hear about you situation.
Chris Geiger 05-21-2002, 11:01 AM That really sucks.
It's been added to the stolen page.

Sillyneck 05-22-2002, 01:22 AM how the fuck can that happen? I want details....damn did they trailer it away or just blaze off on the street? this is just as f-ed up as frosty's rig except this one's a REAL expensive item! I can't believe someone would do that and expect not to get caught...
keep us informed on the details.....sneaky muther f-ers are looking for a beat down! this is beyond the law now! it's personal!
Please tell is right away if the truck has been found. Cause if i see it on a trailer or parts of it, i will KILL who ever i see with it. And i dont want to hurt anybody who is taking the rig back home :D:D
Eric Ruhl 05-22-2002, 10:08 PM BTT
AFAIK Bruiser is still missing. Check out those newspaper For Sale ads and eBay for suspicious parts. Scan rigs on the trail and on the road, most parts of Bruiser (like the axles) will stick out like a sore thumb. No guarantee it's still in CO so wherever you are, help find Bruiser!
:flipoff: thieves! :mad2:
bulldozer 05-23-2002, 07:15 AM More details from colorado4x4.com:
Again thank you everyone for all your great comments and support. I have altered the Avalanche home page to reflect our loss of the Bruiser http://www.avalancheengr.com/. I hope this will generate some more information. The Douglas county sheriffs dept. has ubtained a surveillance video from one of our neighbors that actually shows the jeep and theif leaving our area at Titan rd. So I'am very excited that they will close in. But please, please don't stop looking for the jeep, or the parts. A reward will be offered. I will update as soon as somthing comes up. Please call us at 303/777-4820 ext#1 if you see or hear anything. I really cannot exlaim how much everyones support is appreciated. Clfton
--------------------------
I wanted to let you guys in on how the Bruiser was stolen. I left the Bruiser in our back lot behind the shop. Admitly, I had left it there for the last month. We have several customers machines inside and we were a little short on inside space, and I really thought it was safe. Avalanche is out on Sante Fe and Titan Rd, not really the hub for crime. More foxes and praire dogs out here then people. They hotwired it, then drove the Jeep right through our locked gate. Tearing the gate right off its hinges. It was hit hard enough that the gate swung up and hit the building about twelve feet up. The tires were competition compound Mickey Thompson claws. They are so soft that the leave a mark on the payvment, and you can see where the tires stopped . So it looks like they had a trailer waiting. I could only wish that they would have attempted to drive her down the highway, the full hydrolic steering can put you in a ditch at high speed or if you're not used to it. I'am overwelmed with evryone help and support, again thank you, Clifton

Eskimo 05-23-2002, 07:51 AM It shouldn't be too hard to spot the theives... Their cajones are SOO big to steal that awesome rig, that theirs must be dragging the ground!!!
I say we cut one of them off with a rusty dull chainsaw, and then the other one gets fed into a meat grinder.

James K 05-23-2002, 11:53 AM Was it loaded on an open trailer or an enclosed?
Has any one thought that with the amount of rigs being stolen, especially trick one off ones. That it could be that they are being shipped overseas to some rich bastards, that are hooked on the latest motorsport in the USA. And that they are placing orders for vehicles.
It may sound alittle far fetched but its a thought.
payton 05-23-2002, 12:38 PM sum one has watched gone ind 60 secs..
1 time to many!

MattS 05-24-2002, 09:05 AM It's unreal the balls some people have!! Sorry about the loss.
Here's one tip that "might" slow them down. My buddy that lives out in the country dug a 2x2 3 foot deep hole and filled it with concrete. It has a 1 inch chunk of U shaped rebar sticking out of it. He uses a large log chain and secures the boat/truck frame with that. Yes they can still cut through the chain but at least they will have to work for it a little.
Hope it comes back it one piece!!
gp_frk 05-24-2002, 09:39 AM Matt,
My dad used to do the same thing when he still had his 53 Chevy.
It was a badass truck and he only took it out on the weekends. Kept it chained the rest of the time. He also attached a cow bell to the chain at the frame this way any one fuckin with it made a lot of noise. The 12ga by the front door was ready and willin.
Clifton,
Sorry to hear that you lost a serious chunk of change and man hours.

Didn't even think about gone in 60 seconds. But I did like that movie.:flipoff2:
But if no parts are turning up off of these rigs. Then it could be a possiblity.
injectedEB 05-29-2002, 08:57 AM no details yet - but the Bruiser was supposedly spotted in an inpound lot yesterday
bigdude 05-29-2002, 09:01 AM Sounds like somebody might've realized they stole a one-of-a-kind and couldn't sell sh!t off it, so they left it. Just speculating:)

injectedEB 05-29-2002, 01:27 PM this is from colorado4x4, no official details yet as I don't think the police investigation is complete yet.
"the bruiser is in n impound lot and in pretty bad shape, I hear that the frame is tweeked, the whole rear end suspention is toast, and the doors won't open or shut. I guess it was found in chatfield state park. hopefully cliffy can bring us up to date and maybe pic? I hate the thought of seeing bruiser messed up. hope they catch the bastard."

I guess it takes a special kind of idiot to mess a truck like that up. Dust that fawker for prints, and catch the rat bastards! :flipoff:
road1will 05-29-2002, 03:14 PM wow, i can imagine that it would take a hell of a thrashing to tweak the frame and rear end of that rig
hope it was insured big, and that the fawkers get fried for it!!! :mad3:
ironpig70 05-29-2002, 07:15 PM you have more money in the brusier then i'll ever have in my cruiser but the hours of hard work(to buy, build or install parts) is tremendous. and why do people steal one of a kind items that beast would be easy to spot anywhere.
Sillyneck 05-29-2002, 07:48 PM I just can't imagine how one would act while stealing that rig. straight faced? laughing? so stupid there's just a duh expession? All I can picture is a faceless human driving a sic rig over a fence then derbying the hell out of it or what? wonder if they were having fun or thinking they were doing a job or something. Doesn't make sense to me at all. How the fuck would ya profile for someone that malicious? I hope they get caught soooooooo bad...or at the very least shot!

Phill, because you are a decent person that would never steal someones rig it will never make sense. Doesn't to me either. The only thing that seemed like plausable was taking the whole thing out of the country or striping it and selling it to unsuspecting wheelers, essentially stealing a second time. I hope it's not too fawked up. They called us asking to keep an eye out for it that morning it got ripped, I was Shocked.

Methinks they caught some major air, panicked and slammed on the brakes mid-air; landing with the rear tires locked up caused the damage. FAWKERS!

In the story on the other page, he said that the upper links were disassembled when it was stolen, which in turn caused the axle to wrap back, destroying the coil overs. :( Fawkin amazing
