What's the "real" difference betw. the ALL CAST and CAST/STEEL Hi-Lift jack? They've got the same weight rating.
I'm currently running the black one (CAST/STEEL).
My TJ isn't real big & I don't use the jack a lot, but will the cheaper jack kill me in my sleep anyway? Am I a big :rainbow: for not spending the extra [cha-ching]$$$[/cha-ching]?

The only thing about the one you got that I think is lame is that the base gets all bent and tweaked after several uses, where as the cast base never does. But, on my Hi-lift which is all cast, the upper plate or stop (whatever it is) cracked many years ago.

Ditto. I've seen the steel bases and clamp ends get bent and deform, the cast doesn't. I've had both, and AFAIK aside from that they're the same thing.

I have been using the $25 48 inch Harbor freight hi-lift for over a year now for almost anything and everything and have yet to see the slightest warping or breaking of any part on it.

At first I was gonna return it & get the cast one, but after talking to Hi-Lift.... I'm not worried about it. Just wanted to see what you's guys thought. I'm going to try to use some type of off road base (I'll fab one somehow) so hopefully that'll keep that from getting too bad.
