I tore down my Marlin .22 model 75C for a once a decade deep clean and my buffer was hosed...I found one on the net for about 7$ but I am gonna go into town tomorrow and see if there are some in some guy's parts bin or some such thing!

Mine did that years ago. I cleaned/epoxied and it worked perfectly for two years or so before I sold it.
