I'm thinking about a used 2500HD with a 6.0/ manual trans and it seems the biggest complaint is the computer tune/ torque managment. Anyone ever get a chip burned to wake up the motor a little? Did they help gas mileage any? I live in a non emissions test area.

OK, first of all there is no "CHIP''! The PCM's are flashable and full hacked. So all you need is a hand held programer or lap top and you tune the PCM to what you want! It's not like the old TBI ECM that had removeable chips.

I would check locally for a custom tuning shop or get HP tuners and do it you self. Do some searching on http://www.performancetrucks.net/forums/
PerformanceTrucks.net Forums lots of info on tunes and performance mods. You will gain more power with bolt ons mods, full exhaust (LT headers), and a good tune.

Good luck finding a manual transmission in a new Chevy truck. When I was looking for a new tow rig the only Chevy's I could find with a manual transmission were the work trucks otherwise the dealer said I would have to order the truck I wanted.
