This is what my Formula Off Road Landy could look like someday. These are just computer made pics, but maybe at next year I get the real one running. Plans are: Chevy small block (about 450-500hp and maybe NOS)+ TH-350+ Toyota tranny. Toyota HJ-60 axles (welded diffs), Range Rover frame and suspension, roll cage, hydraulic steering and very light Land Rover look a like body on it. And tyres 35/16-15" boggers or maybe about 20" wide paddle tyres. Dreams are dreams.

*whiny 5 year old tone*

NO!!!!! ME!!!!!!!!!!!

seriously, i think we need a west coast and east coast distributor. doug=west coast, I=east coast. and since it would be a lot cheaper to ship the things to the east coast in the first place, i could recieve all of them, then ship them off to doug on the west coast :D

any interest in actually doing this?

gee doesnt everybody want a piece of the pie! :p

you are correct to some extent, although about two years ago i knew about them, but did not know *about* them :D

so i would have figured it out sooner or later :D

btw, those malaysians sure are horrible about responding to emails! and they act all paranoid, like i am one of their competitors in the RCC trying to steal inside knowledge

This Norwegian fellow uses TH-350 behind small block chevy that has about 550hp without NOS. And he uses Toyota axles and toyota tranny. I'm guessing that his Bandit named car weights somethinfg like 1300kg (~2900lbs). But that is just a guess :p

We had our first competition with alfaster after 25 minutes of practise :D We came third, but we only lost with one penalty point to the fellow who came second. And we had some technical problems. But I'm collecting pictures from my friends and I'll put it to general 4x4 talk section at some day. Next saturday we have second competition and we'd need to do some mods to Alfaster before that :D

there is a Formula Off Road event held about 5 miles down the road from my house. it's pretty impressive watching a spaceframe fly up a near vertical wall where we'd spend hours winching!

check out: http://www.worldoffroad.com/events/formoffroad.asp

You are so correct Ron! Hmmmmmm. Let's see...I got it! You do all the work, and send me checks because I (may have) found the stash! Yea! That's it! :flipoff2:

Actually I really couldn't give a rat. I think the real deal (for the US) is going to be hybrid Mog axles with 9" center sections (3rd's). The standard axles (dana's, 9"'s etc) have already had their day...Portals is the ONLY logical choice for the serious rock-crawler. Now if we had some venture capital, then I think it could at least break even for a couple of years...Sponsor a few RRCA guy's...Then when the rest of the west catches on BOOM....You've got a name and (maybe) significant interest...However I don't think "Poopsie's custom's" would be a winner.

How about "Bend-over for your Rover Inc." ?

Thanks for the pics Jare...But what about the concept Land Rover?

You know what would even be better is to get a bunch of Australian parts and British parts that are cheap over there, import them in bulk and mark them up 400 to 600 percent. Oh wait...never mind...I think that market has already been tapped. Better stay with poopsie customs. Adam's gorilla snot welds would definately give new meaning to poopsie. (Just kidding Adam
:D ).
