My family is big into guns, however I was always in to building things (jeeps, ect.) so it has never really been big with me other than a hand me down .22 .

My father has spent countless hours this past winter helping me get my jeep together, so for fathers day I want to buy us both AR-15 lowers so we can build and shoot them together.

1. how do I go about purchasing one? I know I need to go through an FFL dealer, but how does that work?

2. Im thinking about buying the RRA complete lower from PKfirearms.com
any good?

rock river lowers are good and can be had for around $100...

the son of the guy that owns rock river has rock river making his lowers, they have STAG ARMS engraved on the side, same as a RR lower, but can be had for around $85-90....building them is just as fun as shooting them...good luck

The lower is the controlled item. You may buy it from anywhere, though it must be transfered to you through your local FFL on a 4473. All other rifle components may be ordered and shipped directly to you.

If you get a weapon transfered through your FFL, they will likely charge you a transfer fee, ranging from $20 to $100. If you get charged more than $40, you're getting ripped off.
